National Register of Historic Places - Levi McIntire House (Armour Boulevard MRA)

Statement of Significance: The residence is one of the few substantial, architect-designed residences remaining on the Boulevard. Designed as a model example of a home available at "a reasonable cost, with convenient arrangement and substantial construction", the residence was constructed at a cost of $12,000. Some of the lavish materials used in its construction included Carthage cut stone, and art and crystal glass. Levi McIntire, the original resident of the house, was in the real estate business. Keene & Simpson was a well-known Kansas City architectural firm who were noted for their residential design, as well as for their designs of institutional buildings, notably the Scottish Rite Temple at Linwood and The Paseo, and the Carnegie Library in Lyndon, Kansas.
